Pokémon TCG Pocket welcomes its new Paradox Drive expansion on May 27, 2026. Inspired by the Paradox Pokémon from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the set introduces Ancient and Future cards to the game for the very first time.

Koraidon ex and Miraidon ex arrive with an ability that changes everything in battle

Koraidon ex and Miraidon ex are the two headliners of Paradox Drive. Both temporal versions of Cyclizar carry a powerful ability that lets you set them up directly on your Active Spot from hand and attach every energy in play to them. Koraidon ex needs three Fighting energy to deal heavy damage, with the demanding cost of discarding the top card of your deck. Miraidon ex accepts any type of energy but its damage scales with the number of Lightning energy attached.

Two additional ex cards round out the confirmed list of headliners. Flutter Mane ex is the Ancient form of Misdreavus and Iron Bundle ex is the Future form of Delibird. Both cards join Koraidon and Miraidon as potential pillars of new competitive archetypes. Professor Sada (Ancient) and Professor Turo (Future) Trainer cards also enter the game to support their respective categories.

Ancient and Future cards introduce a brand new deckbuilding mechanic

Paradox Drive marks the arrival of the Ancient and Future subcategories in Pokémon TCG Pocket, a mechanic already present for several years in the physical Pokémon TCG but never carried over to the mobile game until now. These tags appear in the top right corner of the affected cards and unlock exclusive synergies with Trainer cards of the same category.

A Future deck built around Miraidon ex and Iron Bundle ex can function as a self-sustaining engine supported entirely by Future cards. The same logic applies to Ancient decks built around Koraidon ex and Flutter Mane ex. The dominant decks of the current meta will have to face these new category archetypes that they can’t directly counter with their existing cards.

Are the Paradox Drive packs worth opening

The answer depends entirely on your player profile. If you play ranked competitive, Koraidon ex and Miraidon ex are the two priority cards to chase. Their abilities offer setup speed unmatched in the current meta. Target Paradox Drive packs from day one and prioritize rebuilding a deck around one of the two categories, Ancient or Future, rather than mixing both.

If you play free-to-play, focus your Pack Hourglasses on a single archetype instead of spreading them across both categories. A Future deck built around Miraidon ex is easier to build than an Ancient deck because Miraidon ex benefits from synergies with Lightning cards already available in previous expansions. If you collect above all, the Full Art cards of the expansion include several Paldea Trainer illustrations that will draw heavy demand in trades from day one.

Four scheduled events from late May to late June to accompany the launch

Paradox Drive comes with four in-game events scheduled through late June:

  • Paradox Drive Emblem Event (late May to early June) -> Battle other players to earn new emblems, shinedust and various items.
  • Community Week (early June) -> Trade and share cards to earn trade hourglasses, accessories and other rewards.
  • Ceruledge ex Drop Event (mid to late June) -> Special solo battles to obtain B Series promo packs vol. 9.
  • Wonder Pick Event (mid to late June) -> Sableye and Floragato promo cards appear in Wonder Picks, with missions awarding an event shop ticket exchangeable for a promo card in the Shop.
