Nintendo keeps cranking up the hype around the long-awaited return of Star Fox on Switch 2. With less than four weeks to go before the June 25, 2026 launch, the Japanese publisher just dropped a meaty overview trailer that dives into the gameplay, vehicles, and modes of the Star Fox 64 remake.
The video runs roughly seven minutes and zeroes in on the fundamentals of the space adventure. Fox McCloud and his crew of Falco, Slippy, and Peppy set out across the Lylat System to push back the forces of mad scientist Andross. The trailer finally shows off in detail the piloting phases for all three iconic vehicles of the saga, namely the Arwing for aerial dogfights, the Landmaster for ground missions, and the Blue-Marine for underwater segments. Several planets and stars of the Lylat System also got screen time, backing up the promise of a full visual overhaul of every stage compared to the N64 original.
On the new stuff side, Nintendo confirmed an Easy mode for rookie pilots, along with a 4v4 PvP Battle Mode pitting Team Star Fox against Team Star Wolf, playable online but also locally through the GameShare feature that lets several players jump in with just one copy of the game. The title also supports Joy-Con 2 mouse controls for pinpoint aiming and runs at 60 frames per second, up from 30 on the original Lylat Wars released in 1997. This showcase follows the surprise Star Fox Direct that aired in the early hours of May 6, 2026, and caught the entire Nintendo community off guard.
