Grand Theft Auto VI buyers might still get a real disc edition after all. Polish insider Graczdari reports that Rockstar Games‘ code-in-a-box launch is just a one-shot. A real boxed copy with a Blu-ray disc could land on PS5 and Xbox Series X some time in December 2026.
Polish site PPE.pl dropped fresh intel from insider Graczdari on June 24, 2026. The November 12 « code in a box » release is reportedly just a one-shot to lock down leaks and spoilers. A real boxed edition packing an actual disc would follow shortly after on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Graczdari pegs the disc edition for « some time in December 2026 » without locking in a precise date.
Insider Graczdari has a rock-solid track record of leaks that hit the mark. They correctly called the physical release dates of Oblivion Remastered and the Switch 2 port of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. They also nailed the PS5 port of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Graczdari flagged GTA 6‘s missing disc issue back in January 2026. Take-Two Interactive denied it at the time, but the official Rockstar reveal on June 24 lined up word for word with the insider’s call.
The play here would be to keep the November 19 launch tight by stopping physical copies from leaking early. The 1st wave of boxes shipping only a download code would be capped in numbers. Once the « code in a box » stock runs out, no other physical option would hit shelves until the December disc edition lands. That gap could create a real shortage on the retail market.
Rockstar Games‘ official reveal on June 24, 2026 set off a wave of fan backlash. Gaming press hammered the move as a « scandal », a « rip-off », and an « empty box ». Several European retailers even started turning down the boxed edition over the missing physical content. A boxed copy without a disc can’t be resold, lent out, or kept as a collector’s piece.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick personally shut down the no-disc rumor earlier this year. Take-Two Interactive flagged PPE.pl‘s initial report as baseless at the time. The June 24 official reveal directly contradicts the CEO’s earlier statements. Fans are now slamming the studio for what looks like a flat-out lie on the actual nature of the boxed product.
A December 2026 disc edition could take the edge off the anger from disappointed fans. Collectors and physical-media buyers would finally get an actual object worth keeping. The November 12 physical version without a disc and download key is still under heavy fire from a big chunk of the gaming community. Whether Rockstar will officially confirm this 2nd release or keep playing silent remains the open question.
