Paradox Drive is the latest thematic expansion for Pokémon TCG Pocket, codenamed B3a. It draws straight from the Paradox Rift set released in 2023 on the physical Pokémon TCG by The Pokémon Company. The expansion takes trainers into Area Zero from Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet under the lead of Koraidon ex and Miraidon ex. Beyond the cards, it introduces 2 brand-new gameplay categories that open the door to fresh strategic synergies.

Paradox Drive went live on May 28, 2026 at 01:00 UTC (8 PM ET on May 27). The expansion rolls out automatically inside the Pokémon TCG Pocket app on iOS and Android. It follows the Pulsing Aura expansion released a few weeks earlier, confirming the monthly cadence set by DeNA.

The expansion packs 109 cards total, split across 2 sets. The main set carries 74 cards while the secret set holds 35 chase cards for hardcore collectors. Most artworks reuse art from the physical Pokémon TCG, especially from the Paradox Rift expansion. Secret cards include Illustration Rares, Full Arts, Alternative Rares, an Immersive Rare, Shiny baby cards and 2 Gold Rares.

Past and Future are 2 brand-new sub-categories introduced with Paradox Drive in Pokémon TCG Pocket. The mechanic is borrowed from the physical Pokémon TCG and groups Paradox Pokémon by their temporal origin. Ancient forms like Slither Wing or Scream Tail fall under Past while futuristic versions like Iron Thorns or Iron Bundle belong to Future. Players can build decks built entirely around one of the 2 categories to trigger exclusive synergy bonuses. We already broke down this brand-new mechanic when the set was first announced.

The Legendary Drive ability is shared by Koraidon ex and Miraidon ex, the 2 face cards of the expansion. When either Pokémon is played from your hand, the ability moves it straight to the Active Spot. Every Energy in play is automatically attached to it. This setup speed is unmatched in Pokémon TCG Pocket and guarantees a heavy-hitter on the board from turn 2. Koraidon ex needs 3 Fighting Energy to deal 110 damage. Miraidon ex takes any type of Energy, with damage scaling on the number of Lightning Energy attached.

Sada (Past) and Turo (Future) are the 2 new Supporter cards introduced in Paradox Drive. Decks running Professor Sada and the Ancient Booster Energy Capsule ramp up Ancient Pokémon faster. The lineup includes Scream Tail, Raging Bolt and Flutter Mane ex. Decks built around Turo and the Future Booster Energy Capsule field Iron Boulder, Iron Hands or Iron Bundle ex. Turo's effect notably sends a Future Pokémon back from the board straight to your deck, unlocking strong survival plays.

The expansion puts Koraidon ex and Miraidon ex front and center as face cards, joined by several Paradox Pokémon from Generation 9 like Slither Wing, Iron Thorns, Scream Tail, Iron Hands, Iron Bundle ex, Flutter Mane ex and Iron Boulder. Other iconic Paldea creatures also drop in like Terapagos ex, Scovillain, Farigiraf, Dudunsparce and Bombirdier. Several Eeveelutions join the party too with new cards for Vaporeon, Espeon and Umbreon.

Paradox Drive features 2 Gold Rare cards that sum up the expansion's central rivalry. Roaring Moon carries the Past banner while Iron Valiant flies the Future flag. These are the most chased pieces in the secret set. The full breakdown of the 35 secret cards includes 6 Illustration Rares, 8 Full Arts, 4 Alternative Rares and 1 Immersive Rare of Terapagos ex. The set wraps up with 10 one-shiny cards and 4 two-shiny cards.

The Legendary Drive ability on Koraidon ex and Miraidon ex delivers a setup speed never before seen in Pokémon TCG Pocket. A Future deck built around Miraidon ex and Iron Bundle ex runs as a self-sufficient engine fueled only by Future cards. The same logic applies to Past decks built around Koraidon ex and Ditto ex. Top meta decks will face new category-based archetypes they can't directly counter with their existing cards. Free-to-play players should funnel their hourglasses into a single archetype rather than splitting between both categories.

The Pokémon Company is running 2 major events tied to the expansion. The Paradox Drive Emblem Event runs from late May to early July 2026. It lets players battle for new emblems, Shinedust and other rewards. The Community Week scheduled for early June 2026 pushes trainers to trade and share cards. Rewards include hourglasses, special accessories and other bonuses. Players can also take on the expansion's creatures in Solo Battle mode to grab Pack Hourglasses.
