Leaks aren’t sparing Capcom either. This time around, the release date of Onimusha: Way of the Sword has surfaced, just days before an official announcement expected at Sony’s upcoming State of Play on June 2, 2026.
According to insider @intercelluar on X, already behind the leaks on Rayman Legends Retold, Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition and Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, Onimusha: Way of the Sword would launch on September 25, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam. The leaker first mentioned September 26 before correcting the post, explaining it was a typo and that Capcom traditionally ships its games on Fridays. The rumor still needs a grain of salt since the source itself warns the info may be old and potentially outdated.
A Switch 2 port isn’t mentioned, however, but remains plausible given the RE Engine‘s strong performance on Nintendo‘s console with Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata. Unveiled at The Game Awards 2024, Onimusha: Way of the Sword would mark the franchise’s grand return 20 years after Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, with 10 minutes of gameplay shown at Gamescom 2025. This September 25 release date would also pit Miyamoto Musashi against tough competition that month with Marvel’s Wolverine and Phantom Blade Zero. Only a few days left until Capcom‘s official confirmation at the State of Play, Summer Game Fest or Xbox Games Showcase.
