Fifteen years after its launch, Minecraft still hasn’t gotten a native release on Nintendo Switch 2. A freshly spotted ESRB listing now confirms Mojang is preparing a native port.
On June 1, 2026, the American rating board ESRB quietly published a new entry dedicated to Minecraft on Nintendo Switch 2, filed under ID 41264. The listing names Microsoft as the publisher, rates the game E10+ with Fantasy Violence, and describes it as a sandbox adventure game. The crucial detail, this listing is an entirely new entry, separate from the older Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition file (ID 34890) which is still live. That administrative split confirms it’s a standalone native port, not a simple update of the existing Switch version.
A native version on Nintendo Switch 2 would bring several long-requested improvements for the community. The current game settings on the console already include a grayed-out Vibrant Visuals option, waiting for proper hardware support. On top of that come a longer render distance, more mobs loaded at once, a higher resolution, and frame rates pushed up to 120 fps. The most anticipated bonus would be Joy-Con 2 mouse mode support, perfect for precision building and inventory management. No reveal date has been set yet, but Mojang could use Summer Game Fest between June 5 and 8, 2026, or an upcoming Nintendo Direct to make it official.
