Crimson Desert keeps riding its momentum. Pearl Abyss has officially confirmed that a DLC is in the works in a developer update published on June 2, 2026, barely two and a half months post-launch.
The news dropped in the Dev Update posted on the game’s official website. The South Korean studio kicks things off by thanking the Greymanes, the nickname given to the game’s community, before revealing it is hard at work on a paid expansion. No word yet on the content or release timing, but the studio confirms it is putting together a meaningful addition to Kliff‘s journey.
This announcement lands at a stellar commercial moment for Pearl Abyss. Crimson Desert has crossed five million copies sold according to the studio’s latest financial report, which posted its most profitable quarter ever. That massive commercial success unsurprisingly freed up budgets for the long haul, and lets the studio lock in post-launch support comparable to that of Black Desert Online, its cult MMORPG that has been running since 2014.
Beyond the DLC, Pearl Abyss is rolling out a stacked roadmap between June and September 2026. Cross-save is the headline new feature, letting players continue their adventure on any platform by linking accounts across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The main storyline is also getting story tweaks, with the studio saying it wants to refine the coherence of key scenes to make Kliff‘s journey more immersive.
The two other playable characters, Damiane and Oongka, are also getting gameplay tweaks so all three protagonists get an equal share of the spotlight. Combat-focused content is also on the menu, alongside quality-of-life improvements for non-combat activities like trading and farming. The pace of free updates isn’t slowing down either, with patch 1.04 already shipped in late April and patch 1.06 rolled out in May, all part of the post-launch grind Pearl Abyss clearly isn’t easing off before the DLC drops.
