Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered is officially making its comeback 24 years after the classic first dropped on GameCube and Xbox. The project reunites publisher Atari and developer Pipeworks, the two original teams behind the 2002 game.
The comeback is locked in for November 3, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam. The game packs in 12 playable Kaiju, including Godzilla, King Ghidorah, Mechagodzilla, Anguirus and Rodan. These monsters duke it out across 8 destructible arenas mixing real-world cities, Monster Island and the Mothership alien. Each arena ships with day and night variations and lets players turn buildings into weapons during fights.
On the pricing side, Atari locks in $29.99 for the standard edition and $39.99 for the Switch 2 physical edition. PS5 and Switch 2 versions ship with physical editions, while Xbox Series stays digital-only. The official European pricing hasn’t been announced yet. Pre-orders are already live on Atari’s official website and the wishlist option is open on Steam.
The biggest addition is a brand-new online multiplayer mode, completely absent from the GameCube and Xbox versions back in 2002 that only featured local couch co-op. The jump to Unreal Engine 5 also brings a fully reworked 4K rendering according to Atari, with visuals rebuilt from the ground up to preserve the cinematic feel of the combat while staying true to the original look.
On the gameplay side, Pipeworks has redesigned the unlock system so players can earn Kaiju, arenas and gallery items in any order they want, unlike the original which forced a linear progression through Adventure mode. The remaster also adds dedicated single-player campaigns for each Kaiju, where the 2002 game only offered one shared Adventure mode across all monsters. The historical roster of 12 Kaiju, 8 arenas and the signature destructible arena combat all stay faithful to the original game.
