Tekken 8: Yujiro Hanma from Baki Joins as DLC and Heihachi May Have to Step Aside

The reveal landed ahead of the Combo Breaker 2026 top 8. Yujiro Hanma, the father of Baki and main antagonist of Keisuke Itagaki‘s entire saga, joins the Tekken 8 roster as the fourth and final DLC character of Season Pass 3. His release window is set for early 2027, after the schedule already locked in for the season’s first three fighters, namely Kunimitsu on May 27 in early access and June 1 for everyone, Bob in summer 2026, and Roger Jr. in fall 2026.

Yujiro is only the second guest character in Tekken 8 after Clive Rosfield from Final Fantasy XVI in Season 1. Dot Esports calls him « one of the most-requested guest characters since Tekken 7, » and ResetEra threads confirm that fan-made videos of Baki characters in Tekken have always topped the popularity rankings. Bandai Namco‘s official line sets the tone: « The Strongest Creature on Earth JOINS THE BATTLE!! » Season Pass 3 also bundles a new stage, the underwater prison Subsea Lockdown, along with the BGM used in the reveal trailer.

The announcement goes far beyond a simple marketing stunt thanks to the absolute thematic consistency between the two universes. Tekken has been built for thirty years on a unique narrative engine driven by tyrannical fathers their sons keep failing to take down. Heihachi throws Kazuya into a volcano at the end of Tekken 2, Kazuya returns the favor by killing him and dumping his body in the lava in Tekken 7, Jin has been hunting his own father around the world since Tekken 3. Three generations of failed patricides, no definitive winner. Baki runs on the exact same engine. Baki Hanma spends his entire existence trying to defeat Yujiro, his biological father, nicknamed « the Ogre » in the manga, capable of stopping an earthquake with his bare hands.

The coincidence runs even deeper. Heihachi Mishima is himself called « the Ogre » in the Tekken 3 story arcs around True Ogre. Two ogres, two sagas of broken sons, one single roster. Yujiro arrives at a pivotal moment for the franchise. Katsuhiro Harada, the series’ historical figurehead and architect of the guest character policy since Tekken 7, left Bandai Namco in 2025. Bandai Namco has never introduced original characters two seasons in a row, and Season 4 of Tekken 8 is taking shape without a single announcement so far. Yujiro Hanma could therefore be not only the centerpiece of Season 3 but also the last guest character of Tekken 8 for a long time.
