Helldivers 2 Drops a Full Tech Overhaul on May 27 Across PC and Consoles

On PC, this update integrates the latest upscaling solutions available on the market. Players get FSR 4.0.3, FSR 3.1.5, DLSS 4.5 and XeSS 3.0. These technologies improve image quality while maintaining high performance. Variable Rate Shading (VRS) also makes its debut on PC with this update, alongside dynamic resolution scaling to stabilize framerate during the most demanding sequences.

Latency reduction is also part of the package thanks to support for NVIDIA Reflex and AMD Anti-Lag 2. Both technologies cut down the time between player input and on-screen response, noticeably sharpening the game’s responsiveness in heated combat situations.

On consoles, the May 27 update brings FSR 3.1 to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The most anticipated addition on the PlayStation side is the arrival of VRR on PS5 and PS5 Pro, which eliminates screen tearing and smooths out the display on compatible TVs. The PS5 Pro remains compatible only with PSSR 1 for now, with no short-term upgrade planned on that front.

Additional fixes round out the patch notes for this update without being detailed by Arrowhead Game Studios in the initial announcement.

This patch stands apart from previous Helldivers 2 updates thanks to its complete absence of gameplay changes. No new enemies, no Warbond, no weapon adjustments. Arrowhead Game Studios has chosen to dedicate this entire rollout to the technical experience of players across every platform.

This approach responds directly to community feedback that had been calling for better integration of modern upscaling technologies in Helldivers 2 for months. The game released in February 2024 continues to benefit from regular technical support more than two years after launch.
