Capcom Drops The Free Resident Evil Requiem Demo It Swore Would Never Exist

Released on February 27, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, Resident Evil Requiem now receives its free demo nearly three months after its launch. The download is available on all the platforms listed above and lets players experience part of the early hours of the game. Save data from the demo cannot be transferred to the full version of the game.

This rollout marks a radical change of direction for Capcom, which had officially refused any public demo before launch to focus its resources on finalizing the main game. Producer Masato Kumazawa had then explained that the development team preferred to avoid splitting its efforts.

With over five million copies sold in just a few weeks according to director Koshi Nakanishi, the initial strategy paid off commercially. The Photo Mode rolled out with patch 1.200, the surprise mini-game scheduled for May, the Last Days story expansion announced for September and now this free demo confirm that Capcom is betting on a long-term support model. Hesitant players now finally have a chance to make up their own minds without spending the $69.99 of the Standard Edition.
