AC Black Flag Resynced All 5 Templar Key Locations And How To Unlock The Templar Armor

The whole 5 Templar Keys questline kicks off automatically during the main This Old Cove mission of Sequence 4 in the story campaign. Edward Kenway takes out the Templar James du Casse aboard his ship and grabs the 1st Templar Key. Players won’t even know it counts as a collectible at this stage. The Damn Fine Gear side quest then unlocks right after this assassination in a totally seamless move for the player. The game drops 4 distinct markers on the map to pinpoint the ally locations to hit up across the whole Caribbean region.

Each Templar Hunt follows the same general blueprint for tracking down its associated key at the end. The 1st Templar Key drops automatically during the normal flow of the main story campaign of the game. Edward Kenway meets up with James Kidd during the This Old Cove mission of Sequence 4 inside the Great Inagua hideout. Players then need to take out the Templar James du Casse aboard his ship as instructed by James Kidd during the cutscene. The 1st key drops automatically off the corpse of the Templar boss without even being flagged as a collectible at this stage of the game.

The missions involve defending the ally’s position and then blowing up the enemy’s powder reserves stashed nearby. Edward then needs to hunt down the Templar Hilary Flint through the narrow streets of Havana at the end of a tense chase sequence. The 2nd Templar Key finally drops directly off Hilary Flint‘s corpse at the end of the hunt. This mission chain is especially well suited to mid-game players thanks to its close range with the starting zone.

The 3rd Templar Key gets grabbed from Upton Travers in the pirate hub city of Nassau. The ally marker sits close to a small wooden house at the southern end of the island at coords 600, 756 on the game map. The side quest is officially titled Upton Travers but the actual storyline focuses on a family feud between Upton and his brother Vance Travers. This core conflict revolves around a treasure map both brothers are fighting over as their inheritance.

The mission chain eventually leads Edward straight to female pirate Jing Lang better known as the Queen of Pirates. This ruthless Templar personally holds the 3rd Templar Key somewhere deep in the Caribbean waters. Hunting down Jing Lang thus requires wrapping up the whole Nassau questline to have any shot at grabbing her associated key. This island also stays one of the most familiar spots in the game for the players. This factor makes it a solid starting pick for this particular Templar Hunt.

The 4th Templar Key gets grabbed from Assassin ally Anto at the Assassin’s Bureau in Kingston on the island of Jamaica. The ally marker only pops up on the map after fully wrapping up the main story mission A Governor No Longer in the campaign. The hideout sits at coords 619, 161 on the Caribbean map deep in the Navassa region north of the city. Players must therefore absolutely push the main story further into the game if the marker isn’t showing up at this exact spot yet.

Anto‘s mission chain kicks off with the rescue of his captured Assassin allies from Templar forces controlling the local area. Edward then needs to defend the Assassin’s Bureau against several brutal waves of attacks led by enemy raiders. The final boss target is Templar Kenneth Abraham taken down during a fancy party thrown in his honor by his allies. The 4th Templar Key gets grabbed during the escape phase from the assassination site right after the takedown.

The 5th Templar Key gets grabbed from Opia Apito in the remote zone of Cayman Sound deep in the Caribbean. This zone sits at coords 304, 311 and stays fully surrounded by hostile enemy ships patrolling the waters on approach. The Jackdaw therefore takes constant fire as it closes in on the destination shoreline at full sail. Edward Kenway must handle heavy naval combat before even setting foot on land to meet up with the local ally waiting there.

The missions handed out by Opia Apito include taking down an aggressive jaguar prowling the surrounding jungle. Edward then needs to track a wealthy fisherman whose ship leads straight to Templar Lucia Marquez out on the open sea. This 5th hunt therefore stands as one of the toughest in the whole game thanks to the mix of naval and land threats. Grabbing the 5th key off the corpse of the Templar finally caps off this whole demanding side questline.

Once all 5 Templar Keys are safely in hand, Edward Kenway needs to head back to the Great Inagua manor. The trip caps off the whole questline. A gate rigged with 5 distinct locks sits at the back of the main room inside the building. Each key must be slotted into its matching lock to finally crack open the hidden gate. The rewards stashed behind the massive opening cover 4 major loot items for Edward. The total drop includes the Templar Armor, a Templar Cross Trinket, 10,000 Reales and 45 Bones for crafting.

The Templar Cross Trinket is arguably the most useful reward for players focused on melee combat encounters. This piece of gear significantly reduces the melee damage taken during close-range fights with enemy soldiers. The Templar Armor also packs a distinctive design that hits hard for outfit collectors chasing the fashion side. The massive drop of 10,000 Reales into Edward‘s pocket finally caps off a solid reward that permanently closes the Damn Fine Gear side quest.
