GTA 6 Could Finally Hit Switch 2 In 2027, Insider Spills The Port Details

The Spanish insider, well-known to Nintendo watchers, claims the technical hurdles for porting GTA 6 to Switch 2 have been cleared. His sources also confirm that a subcontractor team specialized in Switch 2 ports has been brought in by Rockstar. Weedle adds that he keeps hearing the game won’t ship this year, and that other insiders are confirming the same intel.

The subcontractor angle likely explains the leak itself. Rockstar Games is one of the most locked-up shops in the industry. Internal leaks are rare outside of massive hacks like the 2022 breach or the ShinyHunters hit in April 2026. The studio is reportedly handling the port in-house rather than outsourcing the whole project to an external porting studio. The hired specialists would step in only on the unique technical challenges of Nintendo’s hardware.

Weedle isn’t the only one hearing the news. The insider points to other internal sources who’ve reportedly received similar intel on the project. The timing lands just after the preorders went live on June 25, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series. The Spanish leaker had already floated the Switch 2 port in a tweet back in May 2026. He was skeptical at the time about a same-day launch alongside the main console versions hitting November 19.

The Switch 2 version of GTA 6 won’t look anything like its rivals on other consoles. The Switch 2 is just less powerful than the PS5 and Xbox Series X. The port would reportedly lean on advanced upscaling technologies to bridge the hardware gap between Nintendo’s mobile chipset and high-fidelity processors.
