Pokémon Winds and Waves Price Leak Points to a Historic Hike for the Franchise

A listing spotted on Amazon Germany shows Pokémon Winds and Waves at €79.99 for the physical edition, which converts to roughly $84 USD at current exchange rates. While European pricing has historically run higher than US MSRPs, Nintendo‘s Switch 2 pricing strategy points to a likely $79.99 standard retail price in the United States, matching Mario Kart World. Following the new variable pricing policy introduced with Yoshi and the Mysterious Book in May 2026, a digital version on the Nintendo eShop could land at around $69.99, $10 below the boxed copy.

This price isn’t confirmed yet. Other Switch 2 games have been listed at €79.99 on Amazon Germany only to launch at lower prices in retail. Nintendo has not commented on the leak. The final price will most likely be revealed at Pokémon Day 2027 in February, according to leaker Riddler Khu.

This price tag would put Pokémon Winds and Waves at the same level as Mario Kart World, the most expensive game ever released on a Nintendo console, which sparked its own wave of backlash at launch. If the $80 threshold is locked in for Pokémon, a trainer targeting both versions plus the usual Expansion Pass at roughly $30 would easily clear $190 at launch.

The pricing trend across the Switch 2 library makes this number painfully plausible. If Nintendo holds the line at $80 for Pokémon, the company will find it very difficult to walk back on any future blockbuster. The franchise that has always served as the affordable gateway into Nintendo culture would cross a symbolic threshold never reached in 30 years of history.
