Modern Warfare 2 And 3 Look Set To Follow Black Ops Onto PS4 And PS5

The PS4 entries spotted on Orbis Patches carry patch creation dates going back to July 2025. That timing suggests the ports could already be finished, or at least close to wrap. The database has a solid track record, with several previous discoveries confirmed by official Activision announcements down the line.

Activision has stayed silent on these alleged Modern Warfare ports. No release date has been announced either at this point. The rumor still needs official confirmation, even with the long track record Orbis Patches has earned.

If these ports follow the same blueprint as the Black Ops ones, they should bundle the full original content. That means the campaign, the competitive multiplayer, and side modes like Spec Ops for Modern Warfare 2. No major graphical overhaul expected, just a technical upscale to 1080p on PS4 and PS5.

Black Ops and Black Ops 2 have already been officially announced by Treyarch for PS4 and PS5. Studio Iron Galaxy is handling the porting work, with a release window pegged for July 2026. These titles are not remasters but direct ports, with a technical upscale to 1080p.

The price tag is set at $40 per game on the PlayStation Store. A bundle of both titles runs $80. The Black Ops DLC packs go for $10 each, while the Black Ops 2 season pass adds another $30 on top.

This pricing structure is already raising eyebrows among fans. Grabbing the full Black Ops 1 and 2 bundle with every DLC can balloon up to $150 total. The Modern Warfare 2 and 3 ports would likely follow the same pricing playbook, fueling the ongoing frustration over the cost of classic re-releases.

The very 1st Call of Duty: Modern Warfare landed a full remaster back in 2016, bundling both campaign and multiplayer. But Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3 have never gotten the same treatment. The fate of the 2 Infinity Ward originals is actually lopsided over at Activision.

Modern Warfare 2 did get a remastered version in 2020 on modern consoles. But it only shipped with the single-player campaign, leaving out both the competitive multiplayer and the cooperative Spec Ops mode. Modern Warfare 3 has never gotten a single official re-release since 2011, making it 15 years of total radio silence.

If these new PS4 and PS5 ports deliver the complete original package, they could finally close a long-standing editorial gap. The final call is in Activision‘s hands, with no comment from the publisher so far. With patch dates already a year old, the question seems settled.
