In Pokémon Pokopia, the concept of catching is completely rethought. You no longer catch Pokémon with Poké Balls: you attract them by building habitats tailored to their preferences in your reconstructed world. Each species has its own requirements, whether it’s a specific type of terrain, a particular decoration, or a precise environment. That’s the whole principle behind the Habitat Dex, Pokémon Pokopia‘s new system that catalogs over 200 different habitats to create or discover in hopes of seeing every available species show up.

To maximize your progression in the Pokémon Pokopia Pokédex, a few habits are essential from the start of the adventure. Regularly checking the specialties of Pokémon already living in your town allows you to unlock essential moves like Cut or Rock Smash, which open access to new habitats and therefore new species. Time-limited events, like the first Tufts for Cottonee event launched on March 10, 2026, also introduce extra Pokémon outside the base 300, so keep an eye on the calendar.

Certain rare species require considerable investment, especially the Legendary Pokémon that make up the true endgame challenge in Pokémon Pokopia.
