A rumor coming from a heavily followed insider looks set to flip into official confirmation within hours for Resident Evil fans, just hours out from the industry’s biggest summer showcase.
Leaker Dusk Golem, known as AestheticGamer1 on X, has called the announcement of the Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake « incredibly likely ». All eyes are now on Summer Game Fest 2026, set to kick off tonight at the Dolby Theatre at 11:00 PM CEST. His credibility rests on a solid track record. He previously revealed the full title of Resident Evil Requiem along with Leon S. Kennedy’s status as a co-playable character alongside Grace Ashcroft, both confirmed at the 2026 launch.
Code Veronica launched in 2000 on SEGA Dreamcast and remains one of the most unique entries in the franchise. The game serves as the direct sequel to Resident Evil 2 and brings Claire Redfield back into the action, searching for her brother Chris. The adventure unfolds across the chilling environments of Rockfort Island before descending into a secret Antarctic base. That claustrophobic atmosphere is exactly what Capcom now knows how to magnify on its RE Engine, thanks to the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remakes.
According to the leaks compiled by PlayStation Universe, the project would be handed to Kazunori Kadoi and Yasuhiro Anpo. The two directors have already cut their teeth on the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remakes, with the critical and commercial success everyone now knows. A 2027 release window is on the table, which would line up with Resident Evil’s 30th anniversary. That would give Capcom a full year of marketing runway to orchestrate the rollout for what could become one of the most anticipated remakes of the decade.
