BeamNG.drive Finally Lands On PS5 After 10 Years Of Waiting And Confirms Multiplayer Mode

Vehicle simulation fans finally see a long-standing wish come true. BeamNG has confirmed that BeamNG.drive will hit PlayStation 5 at some point during 2026. The PC version remains in Early Access on Steam since May 29, 2015, marking nearly 11 years of continuous development.

The Official Announcement Confirmed On The PlayStation Blog

The official announcement dropped on the PlayStation Blog on May 28, 2026, alongside a fresh trailer dedicated to the PS5 version. The studio addresses in its statement the question the community has been asking for nearly a decade about a possible console port.

A follow-up showcase is also planned during the State of Play on June 2, 2026. The PS5 version will carry over the PC content with no firm release window for now. No details have been shared about a potential Xbox Series X|S release alongside it.

Why BeamNG.drive Took 10 Years To Reach Consoles

The simulation runs on a one-of-a-kind soft-body physics engine that models every vehicle as a mesh of nodes and beams that deform in real time. This setup lets each component bend, deform or break under stress independently.

The spectacular crashes that went viral on YouTube and Twitch are the emergent result of the physics engine, not a scripted system. This technical complexity has long kept consoles out of reach since the hardware couldn’t handle the computational load. The PS5 release validates how far the engine has come after a decade of optimization led by the BeamNG team.

Update 0.39 Lines Up A Massive Graphics Overhaul On PC

Alongside the PS5 announcement, BeamNG breaks down the 0.39 update planned for the PC version in 2026. The patch packs a full graphics overhaul with a brand-new Direct3D 12 renderer, HDR support, volumetric clouds with shadows and a fresh natural tonemapper. The physics side gains slipstreaming, side drafting and bump drafting to make racing more tactical.

The studio also confirms for the first time that official multiplayer has been in the works for several years. The rollout will happen in progressive waves following the same model as the tire physics, with no specific date locked in. RAM and VRAM memory optimization is also on the menu. This improvement is a direct response to the price surge on components seen in recent months.
